I can't seem to get organized and/or I get off track.
Sometimes I think I have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).
Sometimes, I think I have a memory disorder.
How can I attack this problem?
A multi-faceted assessment, including an intake interview about work-related
difficulties, formal psychological testing, and an analysis of employment
history is recommended to start. Afterward, strategies for improving
organization and establishing a monitoring system to check on organization is
established.
Are there neuropsychological and personality tests
specifically for ADD, ADHD and memory dysfunction?
There are specific tests for assessment of attention/concentration deficits,
hyperactivity, memory dysfunction and executive functioning. Depending on
information gathered at the intake interview, your assessment may or may not
include the use of these tests.
Is there coaching available for improving
organization skills?
Yes. Coaching focuses on teaching you strategies for using your existing
organizational strengths to attack your deficits. You will also learn to
rely upon new cues and structures to sharpen your working memory and your
executive abilities.
