Success Behaviors
Self-Confidence
Why is self-confidence (SC) crucial to success behavior?

Self-confidence (SC), as we measure it, is central to success in the workplace. It represents more than just your confidence level. SC is the bridge between your inner resources and the use of them by others. Without SC, others will not feel comfortable engaging your abilities because they see that you're not comfortable enough with those abilities yourself.

Is having SC like having arrogance or conceit?

We say no. Having SC is having power and influence over your own resources and the communication of those resources to others around you. We train you to develop SC so that your interactions are effective in meeting your goals, not in causing others to feel manipulated or misused.

Does a person have to feel confident inside to exhibit SC outside?

Not necessarily. The matching of inner and outer behaviors is not always possible or reliable. We focus on the external, confidence-communicating behaviors and coach you in practicing them. Our clients usually report that, overtime, inner feelings of confidence are strengthened in step with practicing these external behaviors.
