What is workplace behavior (WB)?
Workplace behavior (WB) deals with the particular ways people present
themselves, make impressions and influence others in the workplace.
How is WB different from my everyday behavior?
WB is behavior under scrutiny by supervisors, supervisees and peers. The
workplace, usually less than one's typical home environment, is highly
structured according to pre-existing social and organizational patterns. WB
is usually more likely to need to conform to a specific set of behavioral
criteria outside the immediate control of the individual.
Can I change WB?
Yes, and in many ways it is easier to change than your everyday behavior.
Because the rules of the workplace tend to be quite structured, there are
reliable interventions available for altering workplace behavior.
